Meetup at Salford Quays

All of this next set were taken with the tiny Sony 5R and a 20mm pancake lens weighing 69grams.
The whole thing weighs about one third of a typical budget SLR + kit lens and can fit in a pocket. A small lens means small, more affordable 49mm filters (filters used: variable ND, polarizer, +4 dioptre close up).

Low weight means you can use a compact tripod. At one point I was looking to see where I had put my tripod down and it was under my arm πŸ™‚ Its also very easy to clean with no deep mirror box to restrict access to the sensor. The real killer feature of these mirrorless cameras is that you always see exactly what you are going to capture. Liveview on DSLRs will do the same thing although holding a 1kg lump out in front of you isn’t as much fun πŸ™‚

But don't confuse small with "point and shoot".
Pointing and shooting has nothing to do with the size of the camera and everything to do with what is going on in your head.
I'm selective about what I shoot. I exposed every shot manually. I focused every shot manually. I compose carefully.
I timed my shot for bicycle passing in front of the sun.
