  • You want more than memories of your special day. You want interesting, well composed, photographs that you will enjoy looking at over and over again.
Please have a look through some of my photos on the "portfolio" page.
I hope it gives you some idea of the style and scope of my wedding photography.

Brian & Alison – St Anne’s / White Hart

After a couple of weddings in Cheshire, I was back “at home” at St Anne’s and the White Hart in Lydgate for the wedding of Brian and Alison. We did the engagement shoot only a couple of weeks before and I found them really natural and relaxed with each other. The wedding was also a pleasure to photograph.

Alison just before leaving the house:

Another great service at St Anne’s. Revd Christopher Halliday is always so relaxed and genuine.

A piece of football shaped confetti just before the world cup…

The White Hart, nice to see some blue sky through the skylight:

Very good DJ/singer/entertainer. I honestly forgot it wasn’t the original a few times when he was singing. Very good lighting gear too (and thankfully none of the dreadful LED lights):

Great images… as always. Clean, sharp, soft… I especially dig the fish in this set…

Stephen and Jenna at Davenport Green Hall

Stephen and Jenna are still in Mauritius (at the time of writing anyway, I expect they will come back!) and were excited to see a preview of their photos. I’m not going to tell you they looked fabulous and that the venue is wonderful, I’ll let you make your own minds up:)
So here we go…

This image has not been edited at all other than to convert it from the 21 megapixel RAW file. Having the power to balance the brighter background with the new lighting gear is working as planned and then some. Everyone is cooler in the shade too (wonderful trees).

The very happy couple:

One at dusk of Jenna and her awesome friends using the lights:

15 more in the gallery, got to love sunglasses and John Travolta masks…

Thanks to the two ushers that helped with the (rather extensive!) group list and the guests for being extremely helpful. Along with Martin helping me you really made it possible to get great results in the limited time available.
And thanks to the table that made me welcome at the meal.

Andrew

Phil & Natalie at Hoole Hall

I got a great recommendation on confetti.co.uk from a wedding coordinator at a different venue and ended up with two great weddings with really lovely people. This is the first of them. Thanks Amy!

I really enjoyed the day, a little light rain suits me fine. Everything happens with less staged posed photographs and the results are very real.
The service was in a lovely church in a pretty village called Lower Heswall.
The staff (esp. Eric the coordinator) at Hoole Hall / Double Tree Hilton were excellent. I’d dropped in at the venue a few weeks before and they showed me around no problem.

I’ve just invested in some powerful portable flash gear that is already proving very useful.
This was the first time I have used it at a wedding and it is great to have enough power to get flattering results inside by using large light modifiers as well as being able to make an overcast day look sunny.

Outside:

Inside:

Late on the rain stopped but the sun was setting on below the trees so that only one area was still lit with lovely golden sunlight.

These and 16 more as a little preview slideshow:

Hope you are enjoying your last few days on honeymoon, prints are ready and you have the best CD case I’ve ever done for your disk. It took me 2 hours to get right so it might be the last of its kind!
See you soon. Andrew

Great soft light on that first one — glad to see you putting your gear to good use!

Engagement shoots

The summer is nearly here, really great to have some better weather for “engagement shoots”.

Chris and Sam at Tandle Hill Park
This was taken after a good long walk round the park, very pleased you were still up for a few more photos.:)

Ste and Jen on Lark Hill
I do like the walking along shots, getting to be a bit of a trademark.:)

A well timed horse rider:

Really looking forward to their weddings in June 2011 at Clough Manor and May 2010 at Davenport Green Hall.

If you’d like an engagement photoshoot I have a package put together that isn’t online yet (slideshow, wall art, high resolution disk, mini album).
You don’t have to be having your wedding photographed by myself or even be getting married at all! Availability in the summer limited to one midweek shoot a week, please get in touch for more details.

So much to do so I’ll add this now…
I have filled my allocation of weekend weddings till mid October 2010 and can’t take anymore, sorry!
I’ll have a special offer of a free photostation for most winter dates (excluding Christmas, New Year and Valentine’s Day) and I am already taking bookings for summer 2011 weddings.

P.S. Big thanks to www.camerasolutions.co.uk in Chester. They sorted a problem out for me the morning before I met up with Chris and Sam. They have a much better stock of the professional grade canon lenses than you will find in most high street chain stores and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Fair bit of secondhand kit too, well worth having a look.

I really dig the shot against the sun — well executed.

online ordering! 10,000 images!

I have just set up an online ordering system and while I was snowed in I uploaded over TEN THOUSAND images! Lucky that I have super fast broadband here!

All new galleries are going to use the new system.
There are some advantages for myself and for past and future couples.

1) ordering is simple and immediate, you can pay online and the order is sent to your door. Postage is currently £2.30 and prints start at 1.50.

2) As well as this system being for online ordering it is also an online backup. I don’t go to bed till images from a wedding are on two drives. I don’t reuse the camera cards until they are on a third drive which can be stored off site.
Now for extra piece of mind I’ll have online storage of all the images I use to create the box of proofs that couples receive.

3) You can now buy individual digital downloads. This means you can select and download your favorite images at much lower cost than having to buy a high resolution disk of all the images.

4) If you have a photostation your guests can download or order prints of their images. I got 6 orders the very next day after Rachael and Kevin’s photostation photos went online! I have some cards printed with the address to give out at the photostation.

5) The galleries look good, are easy to navigate and can be password protected easily.

The address is orders.photoluminaire.co.uk
I have many more galleries uploaded than are visible, if you would like your own gallery activating please get in touch and request a password if you wish.

If anyone has problems with an order, if the postman bends it or even if the dog chews it, please get in touch! Try to order all you want in one go to avoid more than one postage charge (£2.30 at the present time).

This has been a great service, especially all the pictures from the photostation. All my guests were able to view and order what they wanted. Great feedback from all of them about this. And it made mine and Kev’s life easier too. Thanks Andrew
